The development of innovative maritime CleanTech in favor of blue growth and the protection of marine ecosystems.
Protecting the oceans through innovation
“Subsea Quiter” or “Silencer of the seas”… Behind this evocative name lies the flagship solution developed by GREENOV-ITES. This giant acoustic membrane, the result of five years of R&D, is deployed underwater to protect biodiversity and underwater ecosystems from noise pollution generated by industry and sea users.
The fifteen or so GREENOV-ITES employees, divided between the Vannes headquarters and the R&D center integrated into the Centrale Nantes incubator, are preparing to test this acoustic device in a real environment in Saint-Nazaire and then in a wind farm under construction in Europe. The company, which was selected by the Europe Innovation Council’s Accelerator program, was founded in 2021 by Damien Demoor, a mining engineer and former member of the Naval Group, with the goal of marketing the solution by 2025. It is also working on other projects, such as a “sea coyote” to prevent collisions between ships and cetaceans. Monitoring the maritime environment using intelligent cameras and hydrophones, as well as cleaning hulls with an underwater robot, are also among the projects being worked on by this CleanTech start-up, which has made protecting the oceans through innovation its main focus.
“We identify the issues that have the most harmful impacts on marine ecosystems and the least resolved. We then engage in a collaborative innovation approach to seek, for the duration of a project, European-level partners and then funding.”
