Komposta is a design and environmentally friendly range hood. Its technology makes it possible to use the heat of cooking plates to dry and compost organic waste.
Make compost in 6 hours !
The cylindrical body in the middle of the hood contains a removable and easy-to-clean container in which fruit or vegetable peels can be inserted. During its operation as an extractor hood, Komposta dehydrates the contents of the cylinder by a thermo-ventilation system. 6h later, a light signal warns that the compost is ready to be used to fertilize the plants or vegetable garden.
Driven by Rithema, an ecological Holding R&D based south of Naples, Komposta is based on the will of its inventors to reduce the amount of waste and promote its reuse. In the city, composting was until then difficult to access because it was cumbersome and reserved for residents enjoying an outdoor space. The Komposta hood makes the technique accessible indoors and thus allows city-dwellers as well as residents of suburban or rural areas to make their compost and save about 470kg of CO2 per ton of waste produced. The Komposta hood is already marketed and distributed by K Design.
